  1. What is a direct securities account?
    This is an account you maintain with CDP to credit the shares you have bought from the Singapore securities market. You require only one CDP direct securities account.

  2. Do I need a direct securities account?
    Yes, if you wish to invest in our stock market. You can open a direct securities account with CDP, or a sub-account with a Depository Agent.

  3. Am I eligible to open a direct securities account?
    Yes, if you are at least 18 years old and you are not an undischarged bankrupt

  4. How do I open a CDP account?
    Simply proceed to our customer service counters or SGX Securities Member Companies with your identification card, passport or entry/re-entry permit, whichever is applicable.

    Alternatively, you can approach a Depository Agent to open a sub-account.

  5. Can I open more than one direct securities account?
    No. You can only open one direct securities account, which will track your entire shareholdings portfolio.

  6. Are there any charges?
    CDP does not levy any fee for account-opening.

  7. If I'm overseas and cannot be present at the CDP customer service counters, can I still open an account?
    Yes, you can. You will simply need to send your completed application form, together with certified true copies of your identification card, passport or entry/re-entry permit, whichever is applicable.

    Do ensure that your affixation of signature on the application form is witnessed and certified by one of the following :-
    • Singapore Embassy;
    • Notary Public; officially registered with the country's governmental institution;
    • Advocates & Solicitors; (preferably with branch in Singapore)
    • Justice of Peace
    • Commissioners for Oaths

    You can also opt to open your account with any SGX Securities Member Companies.
